Wet Wipes

Wipes for washing hands, faces and bodies when water is rationed. They stretch the water supply and keep illness down.

Wet wipes keep hands, faces and bodies clean when every gallon of water is set aside for drinking and cooking. Stock enough for the whole household to wash daily through a two week bug in.

  • Quantity: Plan on about 10 wipes per person per day, so a family of four needs roughly 560 for two weeks.
  • Size and thickness: Choose large, thick wipes that hold together for a full body wash without tearing.
  • Resealable packaging: Pick packs with a firm snap lid or tight seal so the wipes stay moist in storage.
  • Shelf life: Store packs in a cool, dark place and rotate them yearly, since wipes dry out over time even when sealed.
  • Gentle formula: Look for fragrance-free, alcohol-free wipes that are safe on faces and sensitive skin.
  • Disposal: Bag used wipes with the trash, because even wipes labeled flushable can clog pipes and septic systems.
