Converts a standard food-grade bucket to a threaded, spin-off lid. A small purchase with an outsized effect on whether the food you sealed away ever actually gets opened and rotated.
- Confirm it fits your buckets. Standard five and six gallon buckets are close but not identical, and a loose gamma lid seals nothing.
- Look for a gasket in the ring, not only in the lid.
- Seat the ring fully when you hammer it on. It goes on once and stays, and a partly seated ring leaks air for years without ever looking wrong.
- Put them on the buckets you open, not the ones you sealed for a decade. A gamma lid on a long-term vault bucket buys convenience you will never use.
- Expect to pay several times the cost of a standard lid, which is exactly why the working supply gets them and the vault does not.
